[AS., day's eye.] A small wild flower, with a white rim of petals arranged like a star, and a yellow centre. The flower is held in a green cup, on a short, wiry stalk rising from thick green leaves. It grows in fields or by the wayside, and is found low down in the grass. It blooms from early spring to late in autumn, opens when the sun shines and closes at night. Ox-eye daisy, or the Daisy of NorthAmerica.isalso called the whiteweed. It is a kind of chrysanthemum.
