The fruit of a plant allied to the squash, and belonging to the gourd family. The plant is a running vine, the fruit a large oblong globe, of orange color when ripe, and sometimes of immense size. It is used for feeding cattle, and as a food; either boiled, or made into a pie with other ingredients.
