[Fr., from L. seta, silk.] A kind of closely-woven silk cloth with a glossy surface. It is an elegant material. The woof, or crosswise threads, passes over several threads of the warp at a time. The fabric is then passed between heated iron rollers, which give a smooth,, glossy appearance.
