A somewhat considerable muscle placed behind and to the inner side of the one last described, and extending from the root of the tail downward to the inferior extremity of the thigh.

Origin. - From the under surface of the ischium and its tuberosity, and from the fibrous aponeurosis at the base of the tail.

Insertion. - Into the internal condyle of the femur.

Action. - To adduct the limb and extend the thigh on the pelvis. When the femur is fixed it assists in rearing.
