By the following table may be seen the customary short rates of insurance for periods less than a year or month.

Explanation. - When the rate is one per cent., or $1 on $100 for a year, the rate for one month is 4-20 of the annual rate, or 20 cents. (See Table.) For six months it would be 14-20, or 70 cents. (See following table, which, by a little study, will be readily understood.)
