This section is from the book "Arts & Crafts Magazine Vol1-2", by Hutchinson & Company.
The outer cover of the very rich example of book-binding, by Mr. F. Sangorski and Mr. G. Sutcliffe, shown on the opposite page (by permission of Messrs. Bumpus) is dark blue morocco, with light blue morocco border and centre. The body and plumage of the peacock are in blue, green, and brown, and the tail is set with twentv-one opals. The roses are in red and white, and the leaves in green. The doublures and fly leaves are in light blue morocco with tooled centres and corners. The size of the book is 5 1/4 by 8 inches. Elaborate as is the decoration of this beautiful binding, the design is composed of simple elements. The tools employed on it are indicated herewith by the impressions of them, which we are kindly permitted to reproduce.
