Found in open woods, prairies, moist cliffs. Wisconsin to Pennsylvania, south to Texas and Georgia.

Flowers

Magenta-pink or white, the 5 divisions turned backward, pendulous, grouped on stalk 8 - 20 inches high.

Leaves

Oblong, narrowed toward the base.
