Next to the Chateau Yquem the most famous vineyard of the Sauternais is the Chateau La Tour Blanche. This is named by reason of a large tower which stands near the entrance to the grounds. The extent of this beautiful vineyard is only 40 hectares, and the production is somewhat limited, being only half that of the Chateau Yquem, namely, about 40 tuns a year.
