Beers are often classified from their country of origin, as, for instance, Munich beers, made in Bavaria; Pilsner beers, made at or near Pilsen, in Austria; English beers, commonly known as "ale," made in England; and domestic beers, made in the United States. Under the Food and Drug Law it is a misbranding to label a beer of domestic origin in such a manner as to induce the purchaser to believe that it is of foreign origin. Before the passage of the food law such misbrandings were very commonly practised throughout this country.
