The province of Liguria has for its principal city Genoa. Little of the surface in this region is suitable for vine culture. It is too hilly and precipitous. Nevertheless Genoa has quite a commerce in wines, but chiefly that of Sicily and Sardinia. The alcoholic content of the Liguria wines varies from 10 to 12 percent. The acidity is relatively low.
