In the Annual Report of the Bureau of Internal Revenue for the year ended June 30, 1917, are found interesting data respecting the magnitude of the spirit industries. The quantity of distilled spirits produced for the fiscal years 1916 up to the end of the fiscal year 1917, is shown below:

During the fiscal year ended June 30, 1917, 198 grain distilleries, 25 molasses distilleries and 284 fruit distilleries were operated in the United States. This of course does not include the moonshine stills.
