The Abruzzia is distinctly a hilly territory forming a part of the Apennines which reach an altitude in some places of 8,000 feet. Between these two provinces is found the Pouilles which is partly hilly and partly level. The vines are cultivated from the shores of the Adriatic to an altitude of about 3,000 feet.
