Garde Poire'e. Yunge Mangoldpflanze.
No. 1517. - The Swiss Chard, Silver or Sea Kale Beet, is a distinct vegetable, and is much superior to the common beet for greens. If sown at the same time, it will be fit to use before them. Later, the plants form broad, flat, beautiful white wax-like stems to the leaves, which are very delicious. For preparation, see Sea Kale, Nos. 1398, 1399, 1400 and 1401.
