Cut in slices, rinse in cold water, dip in flour and fry brown in salted butter or lard.
Take equal quantities of young, tender okra chopped fine, ripe tomatoes peeled and sliced; 1 onion sliced, a small lump of butter, a little salt and pepper. Put the whole in a stew-pan with a tablespoonful of water, and stew until tender.
Slice young, tender pods in rounds. Boil twenty minutes in salted water. Drain and season with butter and pepper. This may be poured over buttered toast if desired. A half cup of hot cream or very rich milk is an addition.
