2 cups thick, sour cream

1 cup sour milk

2 cups sugar

1 cup corn syrup 8 eggs, well beaten

4 teaspoons soda 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon nutmeg or mace or cinnamon 1 3/4 quarts barley flour

Beat eggs, add sugar, and beat well; add cream, milk, and syrup. Sift dry ingredients together, and combine mixtures. Bake about an hour in loaves in moderate oven. Serve hot with butter.
