1 cup dates, cut in small pieces, 1 cup bread crumbs, 1 cup chopped walnuts, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/3 cup water, 1 tsp. baking powder. Mix together the dry ingredients, add the beaten yolks and water. Mix well, then fold in the stiffly beaten whites of the eggs. Bake about 1/2 hour in moderate oven. - Mrs. W. L. Ball.
1 cup sugar, 4 eggs, 1 1/2 cups chopped dates, 1 cup walnut meats, 6 tbsp. flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, pinch of salt.
Add sugar and salt to beaten whites, then the beaten yolks, dates and nuts. Sift baking powder with flour and mix. Bake in moderate oven 20 or 30 minutes. Cut in squares and serve with whipped cream.
