Crisp Corn Sticks

1  egg

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons sugar

1/4 cup canned corn

1 cup hard wheat or bread flour (measured after sift' ing)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon baking powder

2 tablespoons butter or other fat, melted

Beat the egg, add milk, sugar and canned corn, stir until well mixed. Measure the flour salt and baking powder, add these ingredients through as to the egg mixture. Mix well. Then add the melted fat. until the ingredients are thoroughly blended. Greaseick pans, fill each section of the pan about two thirds Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Serve hot with soup ornsalads. Yield: Twelve sticks, about seven inches long.

Rye Drop Cakes

1  egg, well beaten 2/3 cup rye flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 level teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons molasses

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add gradually, milk, molasses and the egg. Drop by spoonfuls into new hot fat; drain on brown paper and serve hot.

Twenty Minute Coffee Cake

1 cup sour milk 1/2 teaspoon soda

2 cups flour

1 egg (well beaten)

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup sugar

1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix soda and milk. Add egg, salt, sugar, butter, flour, and beat very hard; then add baking powder. Sprinkle on top granulated sugar, cinnamon and bits of butter and nuts. Bake in moderate oven about 20 minutes.

Pfeffermisse (Pepper Nuts)

1 pound flour

1 pound sugar

4 eggs

3 ounces citron

1 ounce lemon rind

1 nutmeg (grated)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

Beat eggs, add sugar, and then mix in spices, citron and lemon peel cut fine. Add flour, to which baking powder and salt have been added, and mix thoroughly. Drop by spoonful on cookie sheet and bake in a moderate oven for 15 minutes.

Cheese Dainties

1/2 pound cottage cheese 1 box soda crackers

1 egg

tablespoon water

Spread some of the cheese, about one quarter inch thick, between two buttered crackers egg and add water. Dip sandwich in egg. Butter pan and fry until brown on both sides.

Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cookies

1/2 pound sweet butter

2 cakes Philadelphia cream cheese, creamed with the butter

2 cups flour

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

Mix and sift dry ingredients and work into cheese and butter. Roll out to 1/4 inch, top with poppy seed or cottage cheese or prune jam. Bake in quick oven 20 minutes.

Pimento Sandwich Filling

(1) Chop fine 1/4 pound cheese

1 can pimentos and

2 hard boiled eggs

(2) 1/2 cup cream

1 egg beaten

3 tablespoons vinegar

1 heaping tablespoon sugar and flour A little butter and salt Cook in double boiler until it thickens, then add to part (1) while hot
