Perfect Dumplings

1 1/4 cup flour

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 well beaten egg

1 cup milk

Sift together dry ingredients. Add milk to well beaten egg, and add to dry ingredients, blending or folding the mixture but not stirring or mixing. When combined thoroughly, drop by spoonsful in boiling stew and steam fifteen minutes, keeping the stew boiling continuously. Makes about one dozen dumplings.

Farina Balls

1/2 cup farina

1 cup milk

1 tablespoon butter

2 eggs

Salt and pepper

Heat the milk and butter in a bouble boiler, add the farina and stir as for breakfast farina. Cool and stir in the beaten eggs. Season and then roll into small balls. Drop into the boiling soup, let boil for about ten minutes and serve. Chopped nuts and chopped parsley may be mixed before form' ing into balls.
