1.   The thigh is flexed. Resistance by hand placed above knee, and, on the return, under sole of foot.

2.   The leg is fully extended forwards, then backwards, and returned to first position. Resistance, in first instance, in front of ankle, then at the back, and, lastly, in front again.

3.   The leg is flexed on thigh. Resistance on the back of heel ; in the return, in front of ankle.

4.   The leg is abducted. Resistance on outer side of ankle. It is adducted. Resistance on inner side of ankle.

5. Flexion and extension of foot same as hand. Each limb is exercised separately ; patient steadied by hand on chair.
