Take a perfectly clean bowl, pour in the requisite quantity of boiling water, then add the flax-seed meal slowly, stirring continually with a large spoon to prevent the formation of lumps, until it becomes stiff enough not to run freely. Spread between two layers of clean muslin, folding the edges over so as to avoid soiling the part to which it is applied.
