This is an affection of the eye in which the upper lid drops down more or less, in some cases to such an extent that the patient is unable to open the eye at all In some cases, this is due to paralysis. In others, it occurs in consequence of great swelling of the upper lid.

The cause must be removed, so far as possible. When due to paralysis, appropriate treatment should be employed, electricity being the chief remedy indicated.
