Verbascum, Mullein. Demulcent, mildly diuretic, anodyne, and antispasmodic; used in bronchial irritation, cystitis, diarrhea, and hemorrhoids. (F.e. root or ec. tr., I5 to 60 I.) For its use in deafness and ear troubles, see "Mullein Oil," which is said to influence the inferior maxillary branch of the fifth pair of the cranial nerves as well as the ear, and to be valuable in neuralgias of parts so supplied.
