The patient should be confined to bed in a room of the temperature of from 6o° to 70o F., with the air kept moist. Beef tea, milk, arrow root, or gruel, tea with milk, and a mucilaginous drink ought to be allowed, such as

To be mixed with a pint of pure milk and sweetened with sugar or honey. Then add a large tablespoonful of any liquor. Allow the whole to be taken during the day.

If there be indications of debility white wine whey, made according to the following formula:

To half a pint of boiling milk add one or two wineglassfuls of Cherry or Madeira; separate the curd by straining. Sweeten the whey with refined sugar.

M. S. Teaspoonful in a teacupful of barley water to be frequently taken through the day.

Gentle counter-irritation to the front of the chest by dry cupping, turpentine stupes, or sinapisms will prove useful. Should the phlegm appear to accumulate in the bronchial tubes, the following emetic will readily remove it:
