The fruit of Cassia fistula.

Cassiae Pulpa, B.P. Cassia Pulp. - The pulp obtained from the recently imported pods of Cassia fistula (the purging cassia).

Characters. - Blackish-brown, viscid, sweet in taste, and somewhat sickly in odour; usually containing the seeds and dissepiments, which should be removed before it is used.

Composition. - Sugar, with albuminoid matter. Dose. - 120 gr. or more.
