A volatile oil distilled from the wood of Santalum album.
Characters. - A pale yellowish or yellow liquid of a peculiar strongly aromatic odour, a pungent and spicy taste, and a slightly acid reaction. Solubility. - It is readily soluble in alcohol.
Dose. - 10 to 30 min. in capsules or mixture. Action and Uses. - Its action and uses are similar to those of copaiba, than which its smell is less disagreeable.
