Latin, Sanguinaria
Eng., Sanguinaria. Synonym, Bloodroot. The dried rhizome and roots of Sanguinaria canadensis. Average Dose.-2 grains (0.125 Gm.).
Eng., Tincture of Sanguinaria. Represents 10 per cent. of the drug.
15 minims (1 mil).
Expectorant, emetic, etc.
Sanguinaria is a constituent of some pharmaceutical preparations for cough, etc. It has been recommended for other conditions. It is seldom a prescription ingredient.
