The dried rhizome and rootlets of two or three varieties of Aristolochioe, found in North America. The taste and odor resemble camphor. It contains a resin, a volatile oil, bitter principle, etc., and is a stimulant tonic. Its only official use is in the compound (Tr. of Cinchona).
Strength, 20%. Dose, ʒ i.-4 mils.
Dose, xv.-I mil.
To be given half an hour before meals.
