The face on one side, or both, frequently becomes swollen and exceedingly painful, depending on decayed or ulcerated teeth or a cold.

Treatment

Inhale the steam of Cayenne and vinegar, and tie up a tea-spoonful of Cayenne in a thin rag and put it between the gum and cheek. and it will produce a free discharge of saliva; which usually affords relief. If this does not remove the pain and swelling, a full course of medicine should be resorted to.
