Males are more liable to insanity than females, in the proportion, according to the latest and most trustworthy tables, of fifty-three per cent. of males to forty-six per cent. of females. The period of life during which women are most subject to this disease, and most apt to die from its effects, is between the ages of twenty and forty. Most of the men, on the contrary, who die of this disease, are between the ages of forty and sixty, a time when strength and hope so often fail the anxious man of business.
