Color, yellow, or sometimes white. Petals, large, about the size of a strawberry blossom. Leaves, pinnate, with 7 to 11 leaflets, oval in shape, downy beneath. A stout, high species with brown and hairy stems 4 feet or less high. June and July.
Rocky or gravelly soil, northward from New England to the Rocky Mountains, south as far as New Jersey, Illinois, and Kansas.
