Sulphur waters are those mineral waters which contain sufficient quantities of compounds of sulphur, chiefly hydrogen sulphid, to give them a distinct character. These waters are usually recognized very easily by the unpleasant - to most persons at least - and characteristic odor of hydrogen sulphid pervading them. Elemental sulphur is found separated from waters of this kind forming excretions of greater or less extent around the orifices of the springs. Mineral waters may at times contain sulphur dioxid in solution, but in general the term sulphur water indicates a water saturated to a greater or less extent with hydrogen sulphid.
