Feather Cake (Eggless)

1 cupful sugar.

1 cupful sweet milk, or milk and water. 2 1/2 cupfuls flour. 1 teaspoonful lemon extract.

1 teaspoonful cream-tartar.

1/2 teaspoonful soda. 1 tablespoonful butter.

A pinch of salt.

Feather Layer Cake

3 eggs, beaten separately. 1 cupful of rich milk. 3 cupfuls of flour.

2 cupfuls sugar creamed with cupful of butter. Flavoring to suit.

2 teaspoonfuls of baking-powder, sifted with the flour. Add the whites of the eggs last. This will make four layers. It is very nice poured in two square tins and frosted with any preferred frosting, cut in squares singly, or the two laid together with frosting between and on the top.

Feather Cake

1 cupful sugar.

2 scant cupfuls flour.

1 tablespoonful butter.

1 teaspoonful baking powder.

1 teaspoonful lemon extract.

1 egg.

1/2 cupful milk or water (large).

Pinch of salt.

Stir ingredients together without beating separately. Bake forty minutes. Serve either hot or cold.
