1 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup shortening 3 eggs, well beaten 1/2 cup molasses 1/2 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon allspice 1 teaspoon ginger
1 cup corn flour
2 cups rice or wheat flour Barley flour to roll
2 cups seeded raisins
Wash, dry, and chop raisins. Stir shortening and sugar together, add eggs, and beat hard; add molasses. Sift all ingredients except barley flour together; combine mixtures, and add barley flour to roll. Roll to one-fourth inch thickness; cut in rounds or fancy shapes. Bake in moderate oven. Makes about one hundred medium-sized cookies.
