3 eggs, beaten separately.
1 cup powdered sugar. A little salt.
2 tablespoons boiling water.
1 cup flour.
1 teaspoon baking powder.
1 glass jelly.
Beat all together, bake quickly in a large shallow pan, while hot spread with jelly and roll quickly.
Yolks of 3 eggs.
2 cups granulated sugar.
1/2 cup milk.
1/4 cup brandy.
1/4 cup lard.
3/4 cup butter.
2 teaspoons yeast powder.
1 teaspoon cinnamon.
Mix all together, add sufficient flour to make dough, roll out thin, sprinkle with sugar, pass rolling pin over it again, cut into small cakes and bake in a hot oven.
12 ozs. sugar.
8 ozs. butter.
14 ozs. flour.
2 teaspoons whiskey.
3 teaspoons baking powder.
3/4 cup sweet milk.
6 eggs, beaten separately.
Mix this the same as pound cake. Bake.
15 ozs. sugar.
Whites of 12 eggs well beaten. 3/4 cup grated sweet chocolate. 3 teaspoons baking powder. 2 teaspoons vanilla.
2 teaspoons cochineal.
12 ozs. butter.
18 ozs. flour.
1/2 cup cream or milk.
Cream butter with sugar until white; add cream or milk, then stir in flour and whites of eggs alternately, then baking powder and extract. Divide this into three portions: to one add 3/4 cup grated chocolate; to one, 2 teaspoons cochineal and leave the other third white. Put this into a pan, two tablespoons of each at a time, and bake in moderately hot oven.
1 1/8 lbs. flour.
1 1/8 lbs. sugar. 9 ozs. butter.
2 teaspoons yeast powder.
Whites of 15 eggs. 1/2 cup sweet milk. 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Sift yeast powder in flour. Cream butter and sugar until perfectly white, add flour, eggs, milk and a tea-spoon of vanilla. Bake in layers. When cold put filling between.
2 cups sugar. Whites of 3 eggs.
3 tablespoons gum arabic. 1 teaspon vanilla.
Dissolve the gum arabic in 8 tablespoons water, add the sugar and boil until it becomes thick like honey, pour this over the whipped whites of 3 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla and whip until cool.
7 eggs.
1 cup butter.
3 1/2 cups sugar.
2 teaspoons yeast powder.
3 1/2 cups flour.
1 cup milk.
6 oranges.
1 teaspoon whiskey.
Cream butter and 2 cups of sugar, add the yolks of 5 eggs and the whites of 5 eggs beaten separately, flour, yeast powder and whiskey. Bake in layers.
To the juice of 4 oranges add 1 tablespoon butter, yolks of 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon flour, mix all together and cook until it becomes thick, then put between the layers of cake previously cooked. Put the juice of the other 2 oranges with sugar and the whites of 2 eggs whipped, then cook until thick and serve on top of cake as icing.
