Butyl-Chloral Hydrate, or Croton Chloral, is similar in action to ordinary chloral, but is said to be less depressing. It is employed as a hypnotic in doses of I5 to 20 grains and as an analgesic in doses of 2 to 5 grains. Neuralgia of the fifth pair of nerves is favorably influenced by comparatively small doses.
