Veratrum Album, White Hellebore. An exceedingly toxic vasomotor depressant employed occasionally as a cardiac depressant, in doses of I to 3 I. of the fluidextract. Veratrum viride is much safer, and there is really no good reason to employ white hellebore when the former agent is available. See the following article, "Veratrum."
