A concrete resinous exudation, the botanical source of which is undetermined, but is sometimes referred to Canarium commune (or to Icica Abilo). Manilla.
Characters. - A soft sticky mass, yellowish-white, with fennel-like odour; almost entirely soluble in rectified spirit.
Composition. - Two resins and a volatile oil.
Preparation. B.P. Unguentum Elemi (with simple ointment)..........1 part in 5.
Uses. - Not given internally; is used as a local stimulant in ulceration.
