Q. I desire to use some 8,000 feet 3-inch tar-coated cast-iron pipe to convey water from a mountain spring. Is there any danger of there being any taste of tar in the water?
A. There is no danger of the tar imparting a taste to the water if it is properly applied to the pipe. When water is first introduced it is better to let it run to waste for a few hours.
