Trace Figure 108 on a block 1 1/4 inches thick, 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches high, following the direction of the grain as shown by the arrow.
Start at the top of the foot which is raised to the head, as shown in Figure 109. Finish the entire head. Figure 110.
From the tip of the nose to the crown of the head is 5/8 inch. Figure 111. Figure 112 illustrates how the head is turned to the side; Figure 113, the construction of the front and the rear of the head.
The front legs are carved after the rest of the figure is shaped in the rough. Figure 113. The distance between them is 3/4 inch.
Follow color chart, Figure 114; paint eyes and nose black; shellac or varnish.
