After at least two hours' drying at 100°, and cooling in an exsiccator, 2447 grams of KBrO3 and 8.719 grams of KBr of tested purity are dissolved in water, and the solution made up to 1 litre.

Mineral Naphtha

The mineral naphtha approved for making mineralised methylated spirit in the United Kingdom is ordinary light mineral oil having a specific gravity not lower than 0800 at 15.5°. The sp. gr. ranges up to about 0830, and is usually about 0810 to 0820. The oil, when mixed with methylated alcohol in the proper proportion (0 375 per cent.) must give a satisfactory turbidity on dilution with water.
