Mash the potatoes finely, either by rubbing them through a sieve or with a fork. Melt the butter in a saucepan, put in the potato and the chopped cabbage, and mix all thoroughly together. Season the mixture carefully with salt and pepper, and put it in a greased pie-dish. Bake it in a hot oven for about twenty minutes. Turn it on to a hot dish, and serve very hot.
N.B. - If preferred, good beef dripping may be used instead of butter.
