Two cups sugar, 1 cup shortening, 2 eggs, lemon extract, 2-3 cup of milk, 2 teaspoons baking powder, flour to roll out. Mrs. A. Bacon.
Two cups sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons lard, 2 tablespoons baking powder, 3 eggs, milk, flour.
Break the eggs in a cup and fill with milk. Sift the baking powder with a sieve full of flour and add flavoring to taste. Mrs. M. C. McLellan.
One cup of thick sour cream, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 egg, flour to roll soft, lemon or nutmeg.

Cream together until very light and smooth the butter and sugar, add the thoroughly beaten eggs. Sift the flour and baking powder together 3 times and add it to the batter. More flour will be required to make a dough easily handLd.

One cup butter, 1 1-2 caps sugar, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 3-4 lb. chopped dates, 1-2 lb. chopped walnuts, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 tablespoon hot water, 3 cups flour.
Dissolve the soda in the hot water and mix very stiff. Drop from a teaspoon on buttered tins and bake as cookies.

One and a half cups sugar, 1 cup butter, 2 1-2 cups flour, 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 tablespoon hot water, 3-4 lb. dates, 1 1-2 lb. walnuts, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1-2 teaspoon allspice, vanilla. Drop on buttered tins and bake. Mrs. Fenwick.
One cup butter, 2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon cream tartar, 1-2 teaspoon soda, 4 eggs, 1 cup raisins, 1 cup walnuts, spice to taste. Flour to make a soft dough. Mrs. G. A. Biord.
Two cups pastry flour, 1-2 teaspoon baking powder, 3-4 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, 1 lemon (rind), 2 eggs.
Sift all together the dry ingredients, rub in the butter, beat the eggs, and add to the other ingredients, mixing it to a very stiff dough. If not quite moist enough, add a little milk. Add citron, raisins, nuts, cocoanut or carraway seed.

Two cups sugar, 1 cup butter, 2.cups raisins, 2 eggs, 2 tablespoons sour milk, 1 teaspoon soda, 1-2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1-2 teaspoon cloves, 1-2 teaspoon cinnamon, flour to roll out. Bake in a quick oven. Mrs. Dora Betterley.
One cup brown sugar, 1 cup molasses, 2 eggs, 3-4 cup shortening, 2 cups rolled oats, 1 cup raisins, 1 level teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, flour.
Run the raisins through a grinding machine and use the uncooked rolled oats. They should be rolled out quite stiff. These are fine for children. Mrs. Fred Remmington.
