Mezereum, Spurge Olive. Rubefacient and epispastic, used as a stimulant to foul ulcers in the form of ointment. The fluidextract is occasionally used in doses of 5 to I5 I, well diluted, as an alterative, but it is apt to give rise to very disagreeab1e symptoms. The @ made from the fresh bark is of utility in doses of I or 2 I. in eczema, shingles, and skin diseases characterized by intense itching, but even that dose must be watched and a smaller dose given if the drug is long continued.
