1. Butter of antimony. This is the safest and most useful caustic in canker.
2. Dissolve 1 oz. of quicksilver, by heat, in 2 oz. of nitric acid, and evaporate till the liquid weighs 2 1/4 oz.
3. Verdigris 1 oz., nitrous (red nitric) acid 1 oz.; dissolve. - White.
4. Red precipitate 1 oz., nitrous acid 2 oz. - White.
5. Nitrous acid, alone or with a Little water.
6. Sulphuric acid, alone or with a little water.
7. Sublimate 1 dr., muriatic acid 2 drs., water q. s. - White.
8. For canker. Dissolve corrosive sublimate 1/4 oz. in muriatic acid 1 oz., then add spirits of wine 4 oz., and water 4 oz.
9. Chloride of zinc with enough water to dissolve it; or Sir William Burnett's Patent Solution.
