Corrosive Sublimate Solutions. 1

To make a standard solution from which the weaker solutions may be made, take four ounces of corrosive sublimate and one pound of sulphate of copper, and dissolve them in one gallon of water.

To make a solution of 1 to 500, add eight ounces of the above to one gallon of water. To make a solution of 1 to 1,000, add four ounces of the above to one gallon of water. To make a solution of one to 2,000, add two ounces of the above to one gallon of water. These solutions, while most effective in the destruction of disease germs, are at the same time highly poisonous.

10,087. Rye flour, four ounces; water, one pint; nitric acid, one drachm; carbolic acid, ten minims; oil of cloves, ten minims; glycerine, one ounce. Mix the flour and water, strain through a cloth, and add the nitric acid. Apply heat until suitably thickened, and add the other ingredients when cooling. This paste will not spoil. - Cin, Med. In passing instruments into the urethra, Prof. Brinton advises that the camphorated tincture of opium, 3j- ij, be given beforehand, and that a stream of cold water be allowed to play on the glans penis for a few minutes, as it seems to lessen the pain considerably which usually attends the passage of instruments in supra-sensitive urethrae.
