Sodii Acetas. Sodium Acetate. NaC2H3O2 + 3H2O = 135.74.
From Sodium Carbonate and Acetic Acid. Na2Co3+2Hc2 H3O2 = 2NaC2H3O2 4+ H2O + Co2. By evaporation to crystallization.
Colorless, transparent, monoclinic prisms, or a granular, crystalline powder, odorless, and having a cooling saline taste. Efflorescent in warm, dry air. Solubility. - In 1.4 parts of water; and in 30 parts of Alcohol.
Silica, metals and calcium.
Sodium Acetate is used for preparing Acetic Ether and Acetic Acid.
Dose, 10 to 60 gr.; .60 to 4.00 gm.
Sodium acetate is diuretic, but it is rarely used as a medicine.
