Besides the various readings that will be found under this head there is a much wider one, very difficult and delicate in its application, which may be defined as follows:
Lines of Influence from the Mounts of Venus or Lower Mars to any of the other Mounts, are quite frequently to be interpreted as pointing out the type - the astral type - of the person whose influence has been, is or will be exerted upon the subject. Now, these astral types have all been described in a special chapter entitled Signatures of the Mounts. This most interesting element of knowledge has to be used with extreme prudence, as it is closer to the occult than anything else, perhaps, in Palmistry. Here again, I must ask the examining student not to speak rashly and not to depend upon the inspection of the Lines. His chirognotnic work, if conscientious and thorough, will be his only guide when attempting to find the physical type of the influence acting upon the subject.
A Line to the Mount of Jupiter - Ambition, egotism, success; higher progress in one's position.
Strengthened if it ends with a star on the Mount of Jupiter; weakened or annulled if crossed by a bar, or some other minor line or, worse still, a cross.
Although this line may (and probably will) cut the Line of Life at a very early stage, its meaning will apply not to the childhood of the subject, but to his, or her, general career.
Accident from a quadruped or vehicle; will prove fatal, if the Line ends with a fork. Modern Palmistry includes in this indication all kinds of vehicles, even to cable-cart, trolley-cars, and railroads.
Danger in child-bearing; womb troubles in general.
Generally confirmed by a star at the connection of the Lines of Head and Liver and by confused Lines on the Lower Mount of the Moon.
A Line to the Mount of Saturn, acting as a sister line to the Line of Fate - Increase of wealth, due to the subjects efforts, assisted by relatives or intimate friends.
A Line from the Line of Life going straight up the Mount of Jupiter then curving toward the Mount of Saturn. where it ends - Deep religious feeling in early life; also found in the hands of ambitious and somewhat worldly ecclesiastics.
A Line to the Mourn of Saturn, ending in a fork - Unhappy marriage.
This is to be taken in connection with other signs (which see); otherwise the above reading obtains.
A Line from the Mount of Venus cutting a small upward branch of the Line of Life and ending on the Mount of Saturn - Divorce.
It is more usual for this line to end under or even upon the Mount of Mercury, when it also means legal separation or divorce, more especially if it cuts a Line of Union.
A clear, straight Line from the Mount of Venus to the Mount of the Sun - Celebrity or wealth, or both, coming to the subject in accordance with his special capacities, aided by his family or close friends. Be sure that it is not a regular Line of the
An indistinct or wavy or broken line from the Mount of Venus to the Mount of the Sun - Obstruction to the possible celebrity or wealth of the subject according to his special aptitudes, through some defect to be found elsewhere in the hand.
In this case the subject has received the assistance of his family and friends, but has not made the best use of it, or the assistance was not very real and effective.
A clear, direct Line from the Mount of Venus to the Mount of Mercury -
Great success in business or science (according to the aptitudes manifested in the hand), due to the assistance of the subject's family or close friends.
Be Sure this is not a regular Line of Liver,
An indistinct, or wavy or broken Line from the Mount of Venus to the Mount of Mercury - Obstruction to success in business or science (according to the special aptitudes of the subject).
Here again he did not make the most of the opportunities offered him by his family or close friends, or their assistance was not worth much.
A line from the Mount of Venus cutting an upward branch of the Line of Life and terminating on the Mount of Mercury - Separation or divorce.
A Line cutting the Lines of Fate, Head and the Sun and ending on the Upper Mount of Mars - A wound at the dale marked on the Line of Life; probably a wound inflicted by a relative or dear friend. Should the Upper Mount of Mars be exaggerate or much lined. Wound inflicted by the subject in a fit of anger,
A very deep Line of Influence from the Mount of Venus, cutting an upward branch of the Line of Life and ending on the Mount of Mercury after cutting all the principal lines.
"A fatal love ruining the subject's life, especially after a separation from the loved one. The subject - a man - was infatuated with a woman of the Mercurian type."
Minor Children Financially Ruined by the Death of Their Father on Account of the Law Suit of One of His Lady Loves Against His Estate. - A fairly good Line of Life; a good Line of Head connected with the Line of Life; a Line of Influence starting from the Mount of Venue, cutting at 25 years old an upward branch of the Line of Lilt; then islanded, then starred as it crossed the Line of Fate and finally ended on the Mount of Mercury.
"A young musician, friend of Desbarrolles, was despoiled of his father's fortune by a law suit won by one of his law father's mistresses. The fact of the Line of Influence ending on the Mount of Mercury pointed out the type of woman, who was a decided Mercurian."
A Line cutting the Line of Fate and ending On the Mount of the Moon - Misfortune through interference of persons of the opposite sex,
