1/2 cup butter.

1 cup sugar.

2 eggs.

1/2 cup milk.

1/2 cup hot riced potatoes.

1 cup flour.

2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon clove 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 cup grated chocolate 1/2 cup chopped nut meats.

Cream butter and add gradually, while beating constantly, sugar; then add eggs, well beaten, milk and potatoes. Beat thoroughly and add flour, mixed and sifted with baking powder, and spices, chocolate and nut meats. Turn into a buttered and floured cake pan and bake in a moderate oven fifty-five minutes. Remove from pan and cover with Fudge Frosting (see p. 350).
