Dilute hydrocyanic acid 1 dr., water a pint. - Youatt.
1. Equal parts of zinc ointment, and ointment of nitrate of quicksilver. - Blaine.
2. Sublimate 3 grs., Turner's Cerate 1 dr., sulphur a scruple.
3. White vitriol, alum, each in fine powder, a drachm, lard 4 oz. To be rubbed gently into the crack. - Clater.
4. Stronger. Nitrate of silver 20 grs., lard 1 oz. Rub them well together. - Clater.
5. Levigated red precipitate 1/2 oz., lard 2 oz. - Mayer.
1. Astringent Wash for Weak Eyes. - White vitriol 4 grs., spirits of wine 1/2 dr., water 4 oz. - Clater.
2. Sugar of lead 30 grs., rose-water 6 oz. - Blaine.
3. Laudanum 1/2 dr., infusion of green tea 4 oz. - M'Ewen.
4. For naturally weak eyes. Laudanum 2 drs., water 8 oz. To be used every morning. - Clater.
5. Sugar of lead 1/2 dr., distilled water 6 oz., tincture of opium 1/2 dr. In inflammation, after bleeding, physic, and warm fomentations. - Spooner.
1. Red precipitate, levigated, 10 grains, zinc ointment 1/2 oz.
2. Ointment of nitrate of quicksilver 1 dr., sugar of lead 20 grs., spermaceti ointment 3 drs. - Blaine.
3. Dissolve a drachin of quicksilver in a drachm and half of strong nitric acid, and well mix the warm solution with 6 oz. of melted lard. - H. Clayter.
